“Baxter of California, the premium men’s grooming line since 1965, unveiled an all-new expansion of the brand with an old school barbershop in Los Angeles. Aptly named after the brand’s founder, Mr. Baxter Finley, the new shop name is considered as an homage to Finley. Located on La Cienega Blvd., the shop was designed and built with old world charm and is adorned with chairs from the early 1900’s (restored ultra-rare Koken “White King” models), reclaimed Douglas Fir flooring, and custom made oak & marble bars. All Baxter Finley barbers will don custom made gingham check shirts by Steven Alan.
In conjunction with the opening of their classic old school barbershop, Baxter of California will be celebrating their 45th anniversary. As part of this momentous celebration, the brand commissioned American Blade manufacture, Hart Steel, to produce a limited edition cut throat razor. The blade dons a 14k gold inlay “45” on the spine of the blackened steel blade, signifying the 45 years of history. In addition, the brand collaborated with leather company Makr Carry Goods to produce a custom leather (Horween Chromexcel Horse Work Butts) sleeve for the blade. The blade retails for $345 and will be available at the La Cienega location and online at www.baxterofcalifornia.com on June 16th.

And a couple images of the finishing process.

I designed a stool for the studio and my friend Peyton is building it in Charleston. More images to come. They might even be special orderable. Huh.

There is an interview up at Ee. These guys are doing a really great thing. I rattle on and on here.
