I just finished packing up a shipment for Smith and Butler in Brooklyn. There are next season items that haven’t appeared on the site yet. Go there and purchase things from these nice people. You should also purchase something from UNIS. Beautiful products from a beautiful lady. They have a shop in shop dealie as seen here.

New studio is coming along. Still need a bunch of things but that’s how it goes.
Got a nice little surprise in the mail the other day (Printed Images on the wall). Thanks Phillip! Sleeves!

Makr and Assembly New York worked together on creating an all leather utility bag for Assembly’s first collection. More info and details to come. Images: Greg Armas and Margo Ducharme.

2 of the 11 new items being designed. 11 actual products with multiple finishes.
I need a break sooooo……
“Makr Carry Goods Studio will be closed from August 5th, 2009 to August 17th, 2009. We will not be shipping items until our return on the 17th.
During this time all purchases on our Web Shop will be given a 15% discount. Our web developer is working on a percentage discount that will be calculated at check out, but this won’t be available for a couple of days. In the mean time all purchases will receive a 15% refund when we get back in the studio.
We need a break badly and this is our way of saying sorry and thanks at the same time. Thanks for your support and understanding.”

I purchased a large roll of extra heavy cotton duck to use on a new really simple “Standard Canvas” bag. The roll showed up sewn up in a really interesting way. Although I purchased it from a US company it was woven in India and was packaged up using woven plastic and sewn by hand with plastic ties (First Image). The purpose of this bag is to test a form that will show up in the Japan line and to give the first sewing contractor that I ever used some work. Meet Julieta Galeano, she is pretty much the reason that I was able to start this company. From handsewing the wallets with a group of her friends to making the prototypes for the early set of bags, she has taught me much and helped the project progress. I now have larger technologically advanced factories but this won’t stop me from designing special projects that she can work on. Such a wonderful woman. Her 97 year old mother (who owned a seamstress school in Columbia for many years and taught her to sew) lives with her and still works on certain things.

Tan Cordovan Flap Wallet, really crazy stretch marks on the leather. I will have a couple of Cordovan pieces available soon. I have recently realized that it’s quite hard to get in touch with me. This will be fixed shortly by instituting a pop up Contact section. Until then I can be reached at info (at) makr.com.

Crazy storms. Surprisingly not as bad as it looks. Should be easily fixable with the leftovers that we have.
